The older I get, the more I realize just what a repressed sexual country we live in! America clearly sent a message last presidential election that "conservatism" is the preferred cup of tea. People are in an uproar over same-sex marriage, among other topics. But where is all that fervor when discussing the sexual habits of the traditional suburban couple? Because everyone is not getting in bed tonight and doing it "missionary" style:)
On Friday nights, many husbands are rushing after work to their favorite bar and then to their "girlfriend's" house for a late-night dinner, while their wives are getting ready for Saturday morning activities with the kids. Or stay-at-home mom's who are tired of feeling unappreciated and unloved are seeking attention in other places, and its not participating in the school PTO. Infidelity stats for wives is up, and they don't feel bad about it one bit. Hey, and maybe they shouldn't. But aren't these the same women looking down at another mother for the outfit she wore to the annual school benefit?
Some couples aren't cheating, but going out and "swinging" with their partners. There are exclusive clubs, organizations, and websites devoted to this "lifestyle". Of course no one talks about this lifestyle because of the extreme amount of harsh judgment that would inevitably follow such a revelation. And where do most of these mystery swingers live? The suburbs.
Hey I've lived in both the city and the suburbs, and the women I know in the suburbs seem to be a lot naughtier then my city gals - but that may be just because they want me to believe that sex is the last item of importance on their ever-growing to do list. So when I find out something, it's like -- wow, she's doing what? Hey, just another day in the burbs.
